Disadvantages

We found out that the site builder is too basic and you will also not be able to host unlimited domains in one account. Customer support is almost non-existent from what we have read on reviews of user experiences with Netfirms support.

They have set up their server capability for small business hosting so users should be aware of that.

Domain name registration

Netfirms provides domain name search and registration services. To do this you need to enter the domain name you want to search in the search box on their website in order to get the right domain name for your needs. They register domains at low prices of $9.95 for the first year. They have country-code domains such as .ca for Canada and .co.uk for UK and TLDs which include .com, .org, .net, .info, .biz, .tv and .me. You can search and register domain names and then trademark them to protect them from unauthorized users.

    Horrible service
This is a horrible service. When I realized this, I tried to cancel the contract but they charged my credit card for another full year. This is how I was forced to continue with them for another year without wanting to, because I was not aware that they had signed me up for auto renewal.
When I realized that my account was on auto renewal, I sought help from support but they told me I was supposed to cancel manually. The technicians were of little help after talking to them on the phone for hours because instead of being helpful they just brushed me aside as if I should have known.
Netfirms is good at alluring customers but once they get you they stop to care after the first year.
I moved all my business sites elsewhere I would not recommend them at all.

I hosted my domain with Netfirms but I was surprised that they did not notify me that the domain had expired. Everything went on smoothly as if the domain had not expired so there was no way I could know. They had all my contacts but they did not send any warning to me.
Other web hosting providers send warnings before the domain expires. In fact they send reminders through email to notify you that you domain name is about to expire. If you don’t respond they use all means available to them in order to get the message through to you before expiry, when it expires and after it expires. Netfirms did not do any of these and they were able to bill me for $160 for redeeming and renewing the domain. I was so disappointed because the grace period for renewal without penalty was over by the time they did this.
It seems like they were waiting for time to be over so they can earn more money. It is bad to lose money which would have been avoided but since they gained it does not seem to be an issue to them. I would not recommend them to anyone who cares about their earnings.

    Not good as before
I signed up with Netfirms 3 years ago. In the first year things went smoothly as expected and I was pleased with their service. Their servers were fast, the price was good especially for .ca domains and there were no downtimes.
I never had issues before but this year things are different. There are downtimes these days more times than any other time. My emails usually go down every week during which my customers cannot get in touch with me. The hosting service is slow at times.
The support team is rude when you contact them and no one can believe this is the same Netfirms that was efficient a few years ago.
I have therefore moved my personal and business sites to another hosting company and I will not look back.
