IX Webhosting provides a wide range of hosting solutions at competitive prices ranging from $3.95 to$7.95 per month for limited times. They do not increase charges after the contract term ends which keeps costs down. They provide Linux and Windows hosting plans. IX Webhosting has been providing reliable hosting services at cheap prices. They have great features with a Control Panel which is easy to use. The company has a record of great services for a number of years and a supportive technical team who are friendly and would fix things up fast.

However, they seem to have slackened over the years and despite their cheap offers there have been complaints from their customers about their hosting services and their support teams.

Functionality Complaints

There are common downtimes which are unexplained. The many outages are very regular and sites clash many times which is frustrating for users who host e-commerce websites with them because they lose sales and potential customers. Loading is okay but when loading large pages they are slow. Loading FTP accounts is also slow. There are times when MySQL servers which run on a separate domain, are very slow. They don’t seem to monitor the servers 24/7 which makes the outages too regular. For someone who receives regular income from the sites, this can be very frustrating. Worse still, the response one gets from the support team about these complaints is unsatisfactory.

Complaints about Technical Support

The low price may be attractive but the technical support isn’t. There is no substitute for a competent team of technical support who get things done when need arises. The support takes too long to respond to customer requests. The websites go offline and yet the reps cannot even explain what happened. They cannot explain database errors and they are unable to resolve the problems and interfere with the sites and are unable to prevent hacking which makes hosting a website with them risky.

Sales Team Complaints

They try to extort money from customers by asking for more when business picks, by shutting down the websites. They block sites without notification claiming that the customer is using too much CPU which depends on how many users they allocate to the servers. They overload servers and blame users for over-usage. The customer has to upgrade the account otherwise they deactivate it.
When a customer calls customer support, they receive many apologies for what may have gone wrong but customers need action. The company reps would do their customers great service if they fix things up promptly and have the sites running efficiently.

    IX Webhosting shut down my site without sending me any warning. They say that I exceeded CPU usage. Unless you receive low traffic on your site then do not host with them. They suspended my sites despite the fact that I have been with them for over 5 years. This is very frustrating because if they had informed me I would have corrected the usage instead of suspending my account. Other web hosts send you some notification but not this one.
    They try to extort money from you by shutting down the websites. When they block sites without warning they claim that you are using too much CPU and other users are suffering because of this. It seems like they allocate so many users in the servers to earn more money, so whatever you do you still get in trouble. The users overload the servers and then they suspend the sites blaming you for over-usage.
    They tell you to upgrade the account or they deactivate it without warning. When you call the technical support they start giving you apologies for what may have gone wrong but they don’t take action. They should act promptly and have the sites running efficiently without keeping people waiting unnecessarily.

    Do not make a mistake like the one we made. We hosted with IX Webhosting and I regret. I wish I knew better when I signed up. We hosted 2 websites with them believing their prices were among the lowest. Somehow we started off well but there reached a time when everything changed and became worse. The server speeds are very slow and the downtimes are so frequent making services unreliable. No company can be perfect but a web host that keeps repeating the same thing is not good. The servers go down for 3-4 hours a day and this can go on several times a month. When I contacted them to find out what the problem was the tech support rep told me it is none of their problem. When I complained they suspended my sites just like that. Low price is not everything. If reliability and dependability are your priority then IX Webhosting is not good for you.

    The technical support is one area they need to improve on. You can buy great features but if there is no support to help when a problem arises then you will be disappointed. The low price may be attractive but their technical support is not. There is no substitute for a competent team of technicians who get things done when need arises.
    The IX Webhosting support takes too long to respond to customer requests. The websites go offline and yet their reps cannot explain what happened. They cannot even explain database error making them unable to resolve the problems. There was a time our files were hacked and they were unable to explain what happened. Since they are unable to prevent hacking it makes hosting an e-commerce website with them risky. There is a time they deleted all our files and the whole website. What is worse is that they kept apologizing and doing nothing about it.
    Customer service is poor. The reps are incompetent and I knew this when they wrote me an email. They write English poorly.
    I do not recommend them.

    IX Webhosting provides hosting services at cheap prices. Their prices are very low compared to others who offer similar services. I like their features. Unfortunately the uptimes are unreliable. Servers go down and they have no back-up services. If they can work on the uptime, they can be more reliable. But, if they don’t it is better to move to another web host with equally low prices. Their downtimes are regular but if this does not affect the performance of you site then it is may be OK for you.
    My site depends solely on the uptime so I have to leave when my pro plan term expires.
