HostRocket has an easy to use website builder. You can manage email accounts, MySQL databases, account options, files, traffic statistics and other functions from one point on the cPanel control panel. The system also provides a phpMyAdmin option so you can administer your databases directly.
They offer professional website design at an extra cost. You can request for web design from them if you do not want to go into all the hassle of building and designing your site. They build custom web pages and sites to meet your needs although some users are of the view that, their designs are simple.
You can choose the server platform you want depending on the price and server capabilities.
You can earn some extra money by joining their Affiliate Program.
HostRocket services can be expensive because of the additional costs they charge for the extra features. You pay for some of the features which are offered free by other web hosts which offer unlimited plans.
Their customer support is poor and slow.
I have been a customer of HostRocket and one thing I find inconvenient is their cPanel. Note that the cPanel license goes for $14.95 per month. Unlike other control panels most of their cPanel functions have to be done by HostRocket staff themselves manually which is very inconvenient. If you need to create email accounts, sub-domains, additional domains or FTP accounts, it is not possible to do it on the control panel you have to contact them to do it for you. They even update your email address you can’t do it yourself.
I had an account with HostRocket for several years but I am moving away. There was a time we had a crash and we lost all the data which we had accumulated for over 2 years.
There are some add-on services which they charge for which I can get elsewhere for free. The free setup is available for those who purchase annual or biannual packages. Other web hosts offer free setup on all the plans regardless of the duration one has hosted.posted by Adam Monday, 25 March 2013 17:41 Comment Link
HostRocket service has declined over the years from what it was and their customer service is horrible. They take a long time to answer the phone and when they do, they put you through an extension where no one picks the phone. It can take more than 48 hours to get someone to attend to you and finally they may tell you they cannot help. To get an issue resolved through the ticketing system is takes days.
There was a time my shared SSL certificate expired but despite the effort I put calling them on phone and submitting several tickets, it took them days to renew it.
I do not recommend them to anyone.posted by Xavier Friday, 30 November 2012 02:33 Comment Link
